Pants was not used until late 7th centurey and later than that around the Medeteranian. Bedouins wear layers up on layers to keep the heat out(by insulating the body they can keep the temp around normal body temp).
If you guy's are so insecure in your sexuality that a fantasy game character makes you think about homosexuality you should really not be playing a game, your time would be better spent with a therapyst. Or out in the real world getting laid.

The paragons are sort of like a cross between a Roman spearman and an Egyptian gaurd. And I agree with Sockholm you must be a homophobe if you can't handle a 3D character in a game.

Although I'm not female, >< so you could say that players may enjoy a skimpy dressed male for once.

And to the original poster, you do know that you will eventually be able to make female Paras? and then you and all your heterosexual needs can be fulfilled looking at their skimpy costume.

Although personally I think they made a mistake in what gender/class u could play, id rather have male Derv and female Para

Don't be silly

Way too many reasons that have all been explained.

And the Paragon shouldn't be compared to a hoplite (at least I wouldn't) as Hoplite fought with pikes and not throwing spears. Paragons are very much like Peltasts. They were fast and mobile (they didn't actually have any armour, just a shield), and the armour works for that theme.

O RLY? You tell me who's worse: a 30 year old gamer who has nothing better to do than stare at half-naked game characters, or someone saying that the skimpy armors are not only demeaning, but don't make sense? (don't give me that crap about armors being magical - just look at all the female warrior armors, even plain old knight's armor has a huge cut to expose cleavage)

I thought Americans ideally encouraged the treatment of women as equal human beings. Why is it that they're treated as pieces of meat when it comes to advertizing, games, TV, movies, music, and the list goes on.

On a side note: We're not really asking for too much, all I want is for ANET to give us SOME decent Paragon armors when the game is released. Is that too much to ask? Liking skimpy armors is one thing, but forcing them upon other players is something entirely different.

Reminds of the old joke 'How do you separate the men from boys -- with a crowbar'.

Skimpy armour don't make sense? What about Maping makes sense? Casting spells make sense? Repetedly beating someone over the head with an Axe and he/she still lives make sense?

As far as women being threated like meat by the American media mashine who knows? They are americans, the land of contradictions.
Not liking skimpy armour is one thing, but forcing a armour change up on other players is something entirely different. It is up to developer and the graphics designer, is it not?
And there is allready skimpy armour in the game, so it not like they all of a sudden have gone to the extrem.
Is it?

Hmmm....

Only four pages to turn this into a "who's homophobic" discussion which really has nothing to do with the original post and is fast turning into flamebait...

Closed.
